Initially the Client required a 3d model of an existing building & its proposed future redevelopment for planning purposes. Sketchup was a suitable product to achieve an accurate and visual representation.
Starting with an AutoCAD drawing of the floor plan in dwg. format, we imported this into Sketchup, working from photographs and some key dimensions, ground & ridge levels we were able to create a 3D visual model of the existing building.
We then created various 3D Options from the Architects concepts for the proposed redevelopment.
This proved to be very successful and the client commissioned us to model the whole site, comprising of a mixture of over twenty laboratories & offices in historic & new buildings. We were able to create aerial & ground animations and walkthroughs with various options of how the site will be redeveloped in the future.
We also created internal models of existing and proposed floor partition layouts for future space planning.
Using a Schedule of Trees from the Arboricultural Planning Consultants we were able to add on over 800 trees of various species, giving each tree its name, TPO reference and dynamically set its height.
We created aerial and ground animations and 2d snapshots which have been used in Consultation and Planning Applications.
